The Denver Broncos ended the losing streak, but can they compete with a team like the Dallas Cowboys in Week 9? Here is everything we know.
The Denver Broncos (4-4) have their toughest test of the 2021 season as they hit the road to take on the Dallas Cowboys (6-1). I have the Cowboys firmly in the Top 5 in my power rankings, with Denver down at 20th.
The biggest thing holding the Broncos back has been their offense. Their red zone offense especially has been bad and the play calling down there has certainly been the primary cause, but the offense has also hurt itself through miscues on open throws deep. That is something Teddy Bridgewater mentioned getting better at moving forward.
“We’ve just got to be more consistent and have more explosive plays”, Bridgewater said. “If you look at us Sunday, those drives that we had those explosive plays, they led to points. That’s just how this league works. If you can get an explosive play each drive, you can put yourself in a position to get some points. We can be better in that aspect. I think we’re doing a good job of getting the ball to our guys and allowing them to make plays. Now it’s time to just put it all together—the explosives, the quicks, the screens, and being efficient on first and second down.”
This is an accurate assessment of where the offense has missed out on some good opportunities to get points on the board. If they do end up improving in this area it should result in much better point production from the offense and they’ll need it against the Dallas Cowboys this week.
