Jeffri Chadiha predicts Bo Nix and the Broncos will end the Chiefs run of AFC West titles.
Good morning, Broncos Country!
The last time the Denver Broncos won the AFC West, they won the Super Bowl.
That’s also the last time anyone but the Kansas City Chiefs won the division. Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid, and the Chiefs have won the AFC West nine straight seasons.
In his way-too-early NFL bold predictions column, Jeffri Chadiha predicts Bo Nix and the Broncos will end that streak and win the division for the first time since 2015.
From his column:
“Denver is good enough to win this division now. With the other teams also creating more resistance to the Chiefs — who went 5-1 in the AFC West after resting their starters in a Week 18 loss to the Broncos — Denver will earn its first crown since Peyton Manning was their quarterback.”
The Broncos obviously have an elite defense that got even better with the additions of Dre Greenlaw and Talanoa Hufanga in NFL free agency and Jahdae Barron in the NFL Draft. Where Denver is expected to make the leap is on offense. Bo Nix is looking to take his strong rookie season and get even better with Sean Payton and his offense in Nix’s second year. The additions of tight end Evan Engram and running back J.K. Dobbins, and taking RJ Harvey in the Draft, will look to help the Broncos take the next step offensively.
After a winning season and playoff berth, the Broncos are trending in the right direction. While it’s way too early, and there is a lot of practice and time to go, this franchise has the opportunity to do something for the first time since Peyton Manning.
