The Pro Football Hall of Fame Selection Committee met on Tuesday to vote for the 2021 Hall of Fame class. Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Denver Broncos safety John Lynch was presented as a finalist by Ira Kaufman, who covers the Bucs in Tampa.
“John Lynch is back in this room for the eighth consecutive year,” Kaufman said. “He’s back for one reason and one reason only — he deserves a bust in canton. Don’t take my word for it. In the past 50 years, no defensive player who’s been a finalist for this many consecutive years failed to receive a gold jacket. None. Zero.”
Lynch won a Super Bowl with the Bucs and then played the final four years of his career wth the Broncos, reaching the Pro Bowl in all four seasons. A member of Tampa Bay’s Ring of Honor and Denver’s Ring of Fame, Lynch now serves as the San Francisco 49ers’ general manager.
