The Vonster is back to form.

Von Miller, edge rusher extraordinaire, has been named AFC Defensive Player of the Month for September, the fourth such honor of Miller’s career.

Miller is tied for the NFL lead with six tackles for loss and ranks fourth in the league with four sacks. After missing all of last season due to a freak foot injury in training camp, it’s been clear the Vonster is back – and back in superior form.

“I feel like you have to keep evolving. If you look at all the greats that played 12, 14, 16, 20 years–you just have to keep evolving,” Miller said last week when asked if he’s in his best form. “You can’t go off of your base self from years before. You have to keep evolving with the game, and I feel like I have done that.”

He also noted that hanging around “the young guys” helps keep his game fresh.

“I like to be with the young guys–I like to be around them,” he said. “I like to workout with them. It pushes me. It drives me. Especially undrafted guys – I like training with those guys. I like being around guys like Malik Reed. They keep me young – they keep me fast. They keep me strong. I’m going to try to keep evolving, staying with the game.”

It has been working.

So far Miller has helped Denver to a 3-0 start while accumulating eight tackles (6 solo) and six QB hits. He has recorded at least one sack in each of Denver’s first three games.

The four-time honor for Miller ties him with two Broncos’ Hall-of-Famers – Peyton Manning and Terrell Davis – for the most conference Player of the Month selections in Broncos history.

It also marks the 12th total AFC Defensive Player of the Month recognition for a Bronco since the award was initiated in 1986 and first since Miller got it back in September 2016.
