Sophomore quarterback Arch Manning stood out in the Orange-White spring game at the University of Texas on Saturday.
Manning, the nephew of former NFL quarterbacks Peyton and Eli, went 19-of-25 passing for 355 yards and three touchdowns.
Arch is the son of Cooper Manning, who was a star wide receiver in high school before having his football career cut short by spinal stenosis.
Despite his impressive performance on Saturday, Manning has not overtaken Quinn Ewers on the Longhorns’ depth chart. Last year, Ewers led Texas to a 12-2 record and a spot in the College Football Playoff (they lost to Washington 37-31).
If Manning sits behind Ewers for the 2024 entire season, he would still have three years of eligibility remaining after a redshirt season last fall. The earliest Manning would be eligible for the NFL draft would be three years out of high school, which is 2026. First things, first, though, he’ll focus on winning the Longhorns’ starting job.
Here’s a sampling of how Twitter/X reacted to Manning’s spring game.
