Top local basketball prospect Eric Fiedler commits to CSU

July 28, 2025 by DNVR

One of the top local basketball prospects committed to Colorado State over the weekend. Eric Fiedler, a 6-foot-7 forward out of Regis High School, announced that he will stay in the state and play collegiately for the Rams.

Listed as a three-star prospect, Fiedler is currently rated the No. 2 player in Colorado for the 2026 cycle on 247Sports. He’s a top 50 power forward in this cycle (N0. 45) and top 20 recruit in CSU men’s basketball history as well (No. 20).

Fiedler chose the Rams over Colorado, Loyola-Chicago and Stanford. He’s also been offered by New Mexico, Texas State and UC Santa Barbara, among others.

As a junior this past season for Regis HS in Aurora, Fiedler averaged 24 points and about 8 rebound per game. He was named a 6A first-team all-state selection for his impressive season. In his his high school career, he’s already scored over 1,000 points and still has a full season to play.

In addition to playing for Regis, Fiedler competes on the AAU circuit with the Mountain Stars Basketball Club. 2027 combo guard Christian Williams (Chaparral HS), who the Rams also offered in May, plays for the same team.

Watching him on film, Fiedler is a strong shot creator who can not only burn you from deep but also put the ball on the floor and finish at the rim. He’s particularly potent from the top of the arc and in the corners. But I like that he’s not afraid to display some physicality and play through contact in the post as well. There’s a lot to like about his versatile game.

Colorado might not historically be a major hub for producing college basketball players. There are always a couple of guys who go on to have nice careers though. It’s definitely great when you’re able to keep those players local. The Rams have hit on some local transfers in recent years, but Fiedler is the first top 5 Colorado high school recruit to commit to the Rams since Adam Thistlewood in 2018.

When Niko Medved, Ali Farokhmanesh and Co. came to Fort Collins eight years ago, there were essentially no local recruiting ties for the program. In fact, it was a pretty regular thing for CSU’s Mountain West foes to land the top high school players out of Colorado without the Rams ever even showing interest. Ie. Josh Adams (Wyoming) and Justinian Jessup (Boise State). It’s great to see that things have changed over the years thanks in large to the hard work of Farokhmanesh. Relationships matter in this game and he’s as good as anyone at building them.

With his athleticism, size and offensive versatility, it would not be surprising at all to see him really blow up this year. There are four-star prospects right now that don’t have a fraction of his potential. And I really believe that he’s only just begun to scratch the surface of what he can be. Fiedler is a really significant high school commit for the Green & Gold and a very intriguing prospect. It’s going to be fun to follow Fiedler’s senior season.
