Tom Brady matches Peyton Manning's rare Super Bowl stat

February 8, 2021 by Broncos Wire Leave a Comment

Following a 31-9 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV on Sunday, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady has matched a rare Super Bowl stat that was previously only held by Peyton Manning.

Brady and Manning are now the only two starting quarterbacks in NFL history who won Super Bowls with two different teams. Manning won Super Bowl XLI with the Indianapolis Colts (2006) and Super Bowl 50 with the Denver Broncos (2015). Brady won six Super Bowls with the New England Patriots before signing with the Bucs as a free agent last spring.

Brady went 21-of-29 passing for 201 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday’s victory over the Chiefs at Raymond James Stadium.

When they played together in the AFC, Brady and Manning had a fierce on-field rivalry but they were (and remain) friends off the field. Brady led the all-time series against Manning 11-6, but Manning had an edge in the playoffs, owning a 3-2 postseason record against Brady. All three of Manning’s playoff wins vs. Brady came in AFC Championship Games.

Brady has topped many of Manning’s records, and now he shares this one. Knowing Brady, he’ll aim to top Manning in this category, too.
