In his most recent 2021 NFL mock draft (subscription required for link), ESPN’s Todd McShay has the Denver Broncos selecting Notre Dame inside linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah with the ninth overall pick.
This is a change from McShay’s previous mock draft, which had Denver selecting Texas offensive tackle Samuel Cosmi.
Owusu-Koramoah (6-1, 215 pounds) has totaled 96 tackles — including 24.5 tackles for losses — seven sacks, one interception, five forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and seven pass breakups over the last two years.
Inside linebacker has been a position of need since Super Bowl 50.
McShay has the Broncos passing on Alabama cornerback Patrick Surtain II (No. 10, Dallas Cowboys), Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields (No. 15, New England Patriots) and North Dakota State quarterback Trey Lance (No. 19, Washington Football Team). Those three players have been popular picks for Denver in other mock drafts.
Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence is picked first overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars in McShay’s mock. His complete first-round mock draft can be seen at ESPN.com.
