Denver Broncos rookie safety Delarrin Turner-Yell is eager to take on whatever role the team will give him in Year 1.
It’s the juxtaposition of a Pro Bowl CB operating as the No. 2 CB on a team ready to take the next step. As opposed to a Day 3 draft pick trying to earn his stripes. Basically, Turner-Yell hopes to ascend to household name status around the league rather sooner than later. Dream big.
Speaking to the media during rookie minicamp, Turner-Yell spoke on his eagerness to earn a role. He’s willing to do “anything that can help the team win.” Turner-Yell added, “If that means me playing on special teams for the entire year, I’m willing to do that. If I have to come in and play a role on the defensive side, I can do that. [I’ll do] anything that leads us to having success at the end of the day.”
At Oklahoma, Turner-Yell played a key role on special teams. In fact, he played on the punt team all four years of his collegiate career. He played on the punt return team early on his career as well. “The majority of my time at Oklahoma, I played on kickoff and punt. I played a lot at OU,” Turner-Yell said.
Turner-Yell’s quest to fulfill his childhood dreams of playing in the NFL started at rookie minicamp earlier this month and they’ll continue at training camp later this summer. The season will be here before we know it, Broncos Country!
