Linebacker Dre Greenlaw is dealing with a quad strain.
A report dropped this Sunday evening saying that Broncos linebacker Dre Greenlaw suffered a “serious quad injury,” and it could force him to miss a substantial portion of the upcoming 2025 NFL season.
Yikes.
This report gained steam quickly, but thankfully, KOA’s Benjamin Allbright and others clarified the report and stated Greenlaw suffered merely a strain while working out and will only be sidelined for a few weeks.
Source close to Greenlaw says it’s merely a strain, will NOT affect his season. https://t.co/4hGfXK3Xpb

False Alarm.
Greenlaw has been working out and continuing to rehab from an Achilles injury he suffered during the 49ers‘ Super Bowl loss to the Chiefs in February of 2024. This injury cost him the vast majority of the 2024 season, and while he did return late in the year, he dealt with achilles fatigue and soreness and was later shut down by the team for the final two games.
The talented linebacker hit free agency and eventually signed with the Broncos. The 49ers did make multiple attempts to re-sign him, including flying to visit him AFTER he agreed to terms with the Broncos, but in the end, he decided to sign with the Broncos. Now, he is expected to be a difference maker in the middle of the Broncos’ defense and hopefully, can fully recover from his Achilles injury.
This quad injury isn’t a big concern for me. It’s late April, the Sunday after the draft, and Greenlaw has plenty of time to recover from a quad strain. He may miss some time during the OTA practices, but his rehab and recovery are probably a priority for the Broncos and Greenlaw this offseason.
Thankfully, this appears to be a false alarm and Greenlaw will be good to go for the start of the regular season.
