Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers might go on the trade block next offseason, and the Denver Broncos could be among his suitors.
During an appearance on NFL Network on Sunday, Ian Rapoport indicated that Denver could be a team to watch in the Rodgers sweepstakes in 2022.
Rodgers’ reworked contract with the Packers includes the understanding that the team will “look at trade options” after the 2021 season, Rapoport reported.
“I am told the Denver Broncos — who would have been interested this past offseason — remain interested and could try to trade for Rodgers [and] make a substantial offer after this season — they have not yet committed to a long-term quarterback,” Rapoport said during a segment on NFL Network on Sunday.
Rodgers was heavily linked to the Broncos in trade rumors earlier this year. In an interview with Erin Andrews of Fox Sports that aired Sunday, Rodgers indicated that he believed being traded to Denver or the San Francisco 49ers was a real possibility during the offseason.
While a trade did not materialize in 2021, Rodgers might become available next spring, and the Broncos will be a team to watch.
