NFL: Denver Broncos OTA
Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

The two rookie defensive backs will miss valuable time this summer.

According to reports, the Denver Broncos have placed rookie safety Jamar Johnson and rookie cornerback Kary Vincent on the reserve-Covid- 19 list. This means that either both players have tested positive for Covid-19 or that they were deemed close contacts of someone who did.

Hopefully, both players are staying healthy and make a full recovery from this if they do indeed test positive.

It’s unclear how long both will be sidelined but missing any amount of time could be detrimental to the development of both. Johnson was selected in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Broncos and figured to be in competition to be the team’s third safety this season. Vincent was selected in the seventh round by the Broncos after opting out of the 2020 season at LSU. He likely needed a strong camp to make the team’s final 53-man roster but now will face an uphill battle to do that. He already faced stiff competition for these final spots but now will be sidelined for a bit at least

The Broncos are near the top in players being vaccinated so hopefully we do not see many of these types of cases throughout the summer and throughout the season.
