Reaches vs value picks in the 2025 draft- how did the Broncos do?

Draft slot vs consensus big board by team for the whole 2025 draft

The consensus big board from the 2025 draft can be found here– the rankings are 1-300. NextGen stats and AWS have their DRAFTIQ score which I wrote quite a bit about prior to the draft. Their rankings go from 50-100. NFL.com has their draft grades which range from 5.50-8.0 (an odd scale to say the least). PFF grades/ranks their top 350 players in the draft.

I have compiled the rankings for the Denver Broncos draft class in 2025 and it is below.

So according to the consensus big board, we got value with Barron (PFF agrees) because he “should” have gone earlier in the first round. PFF thinks we took Harvey a little early, and the big board thinks we took him a round too soon. Both sources think we took Bryant two rounds before we had to. We got out next two picks at about where both thought they should go.

I flipped the X and Y axis for the PFF grading. Below is the Bronco Draftees. Distance from the line is reach vs value level. So note that reach is above and value is below in this one.

If we analyze how every team did in the draft, the values are in the table below. The Broncos reached quite a bit according to the big board, but much of this is from the day 3 picks who didn’t show up on the top 300 consensus big board.

It hurts to see KC ranked so highly here but according to the consensus big board, they absolutely killed it on day 3 finding value with Jalen Royals, Jeffrey Bassa and Brashard Smith. All three fell from where most thought that they would be drafted, with Smith having the biggest fall. He was taken 228th, and he was consensus 142nd.

In fact Smith was one of the biggest “value” picks in the 2025 draft.

The Broncos had none of these picks, they did however have some of the biggest “reaches” in the draft based on this metric.

You’ll note that most of these guys did not rank in the top 300 on the consensus big board. So I assigned them a value of 301. If we looked at the guys who were on the board, Pat Bryant shows up as the 11th biggest reach in the draft behind:

  1. Arian Smith
  2. Jaylin Smith
  3. Nick Martin
  4. Justin Walley
  5. Francisco Mauigoa
  6. Isaac TeSlaa
  7. Chimere Dike
  8. Marcus Harris
  9. Jason Marshall
  10. Craig Woodson

The only team with two massive “reaches” on this list is the Titans who reached 100 and 95 spots to get Chimera Dike and Marcus Harris.
