The first season of the (rebooted) USFL wrapped on Sunday evening, leaving football fans with about a month without football this summer until NFL training camps begin in late July.
The inaugural USFL season featured 20 former Denver Broncos players, most notably including quarterback Kyle Sloter, who was a preseason fan favorite in Denver as a rookie back in 2017.
Sloter and the rest of the league’s standout players will now hope for another shot in the NFL. That’s one of the USFL’s main objectives, to serve as a proving ground for fringe players hoping to make it to the NFL (either as a first-timer or as a returning player like Sloter).
One of the other goals of the USFL was to give football fans something to watch in the spring and early summer when the NFL is at a dead period. Where they successful?
