The Denver Broncos traded up in the second round of the 2021 NFL draft on Friday evening to select North Carolina’s Javonte Williams, a prospect who some pundits consider the best running back in this year’s class.
It looks like former Broncos running back Phillip Lindsay wasn’t impressed by the pick.

Lindsay did not specifically say he was tweeting in response to the Williams selection, but the timing seems too close to be a coincidence.
Denver moved on from Lindsay earlier this offseason, releasing him to free agency after they signed ex-Minnesota Vikings running back Mike Boone. It looks like Boone will now serve as the third-string running back behind Melvin Gordon and Williams.
Gordon is scheduled to become a free agent in 2022, so Williams appears poised to become the Broncos’ starting running back next year.
Lindsay was a fan favorite in Denver, but new general manager George Paton decided to revamp the backfield when he took the job earlier this year.
