Former Denver Broncos GM John Elway got his man Peyton Manning ahead of the 2012 season.
A move that indirectly led to Manning helping the Broncos get their new man Russell Wilson a decade later.
Manning was a member of the Indianapolis Colts before joining the Broncos. He actually helped liaison Matt Ryan‘s arrival to Lucas Oil Stadium as well.
“I talked to both of them kinda during the process and tried to be a resource as I try to be for all quarterbacks,” Manning said in a recent interview with NFL.com’s Michael Baca. “And the same with Russell, right? It’s a new chapter for him. Broncos fans and players are hungry — we’ve been in a little bit of a drought the past few years and it’s time to get the Broncos back to where they’re supposed to be.”
Very telling how much Denver means to Manning. Although he played just four seasons with the team compared to over a decade with the Colts. Just an observation.
Elsewhere, it wasn’t just Manning that worked as a liaison “during the process” of the Wilson trade. The latter’s former college teammate at Wisconsin Melvin Gordon talked up the Broncos as well.
