After Denver Broncos cornerback Pat Surtain became the sixth cornerback in NFL history to win Defensive Player of the Year, the team released a star-studded video congratulating PS2 for the honor.
First to congratulate him in the video is current Broncos head coach Sean Payton. “Patrick Surtain, congratulations on being the NFL Defensive Player of the Year,” said Payton.
Surtain was then congratulated by his father, Patrick Surtain Sr., who was an NFL cornerback from 1998-2008. “Just want to say congratulations man, on being named Defensive Player of the Year,” said the elder Surtain. “I know the hard work and dedication that you put into your craft and to come out and have a season like you had, man, it just truly speaks volumes about who you are as a player and what you are as a person.”
Others who offered their congratulations include Pro Football Hall of Famers Peyton Manning, Randy Gradishar and Champ Bailey, former Broncos stars Aqib Talib, Brian Dawkins and Chris Harris Jr., Surtain’s college coach Nick Saban, current teammates Alex Singleton, Bo Nix and Courtland Sutton, as well as Denver general manager George Paton, and his mother Michelle Surtain.
