NFL teams have called Jags about Gardner Minshew

Several NFL teams have called the Jacksonville Jaguars about Gardner Minshew’s trade status, according to a report from NFL Network (via Jaguars Wire). There’s been no word yet on if the Denver Broncos are among those teams, but general manager George Paton is in the market for a QB.

Jacksonville is widely expected to select Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence with the first overall pick in this year’s NFL draft, which would make Minshew expendable. Minshew would be a good backup for the Jags, but he would probably welcome a change of scenery with a team where he could compete for a starting job.

If he were acquired by the Broncos, Minshew would likely be given the opportunity to compete with Drew Lock. It remains to be seen if Denver will have any interest in Minshew, though, especially after NFL Network indicated they would want to add a drastic improvement over Lock if they land a quarterback through a trade.
