The Denver Broncos are not expected to bring back special teams coordinator Tom McMahon for the 2022 season, and that has sparked a reunion request from former punter Marquette King.
“Now that mcmahon is gone I’m down to pick up where we left off,” King tweeted last Friday. “Tell them to Call my agent.”
King, 33, played for the Broncos in 2018 before suffering an injury and being cut. He then spent 2019 away from football before playing in the XFL in 2020. King was not on a roster in 2021.
King indicated on Twitter in 2019 that Denver’s coaching staff had him change his punting technique, a request that took a toll “mentally.”
Former Broncos safety Su’a Cravens also took to Twitter on Friday evening to provide some background on King’s beef with McMahon.
I’d be upset as a specialist too if my coaches one & only constant critique was that I punt the ball to “high and far” because he wants to give his kick coverage a chance to tackle lol if he’s kicking the ball out of bounds and flipping field position why would it matter?! smh https://t.co/IItpW6SfFu

King liked Broncos Wire’s tweet earlier this month that mentioned Denver allowing the most returns for touchdown’s during McMahon’s tenure.
The Broncos will add a punter to their roster after the Super Bowl, but it’s not King. He seems unlikely to get another shot in Denver.
