The Denver Broncos have missed the playoffs in each of the last five seasons, leaving fans frustrated and pundits critical.
Broncos players are upset about missing the postseason, too, and they aim to end the playoff drought this season.
“With the high character individuals that we have here and some younger guys that have played bigger roles and younger guys that have stepped into those leadership roles — that’s been a topic of conversation,” outside linebacker Malik Reed said on June 3. “We take this very seriously. This is something we put our all into and we put our heart into everything we do every time we step in here.
“It’s a constant of talking about how do we get there and how do we take that next step? What do we need to change to push us over the top? What are the teams that are consistently successful — what are they doing? What do we need to do differently? It’s amazing to see.”
Talking is great and following the lead of successful teams is prudent, but the talk will need to backed up with results on the field. Reed and his teammates are trending in the right direction, but fans won’t be content until a playoff berth is secured on the field.
