It’s all hypothetical for now since he hasn’t been in any trade rumors since joining the Lions in 2023.

Despite that, Gibbs came into the equation and formed one of the most ferocious running back duos in the league, becoming the first pair of players in NFL history to combine for 1,000 yards. If it came down to deciding on which they would extend in the future, they might be more lenient to give Gibbs a long-term deal, given his age.
This leaves Montgomery on the back burner. The trade itself is a long shot, but it’s still a fun one to discuss.
