“I’m blessed to be in this position,” Williams said in a press conference last night. “This is the reason why I started playing football at a young age—just to be here.”
Williams admitted that he didn’t expect to be drafted by the Broncos, especially since he didn’t talk to them a lot throughout the process, although Curtis Modkins (Broncos’ running backs coach) attended his Pro Day.
He recognizes himself as a three-down running back. “I feel like I can do everything at the running back position,” Williams said, mentioning that he’s ready to compete with other RBs like Melvin Gordon III, Royce Freeman, and Mike Boone.
The new Bronco added that he will be learning from the current RBs and trying to get better every day, especially Gordon, whom he’s been watching since he was at Wisconsin.
“I have always been a fan of his, so coming in and picking stuff from his game will be a huge start for me,” Williams remarked, and assured that he’s not worried about splitting the ball with Gordon.
“I’m not concerned at all,” he added. “I’m just ready to get in and play. I don’t know my role, but I’m going to do whatever it takes to get on the field.”
