How much salary cap space do Broncos have left after signing their draft class?

July 4, 2022 by Broncos Wire

The Denver Broncos have signed all nine members of their 2022 NFL draft class, which was the team’s final order of business before training camp begins later this month.

After signing the draft class, Denver’s 90-man offseason roster is full and the team is left with $9,532,810 in remaining salary cap space, according to records from the NFL Players Association.

The Broncos are done with splash moves this offseason and the team might choose to hold on to a bulk of its cap space so it will roll over to be added to the team’s 2023 cap total (this year, Denver rolled over about $11.2 million worth of unused cap space from the 2021 season).

The Broncos will also want to have cap space available going into the season for the possibility of signing free agents as injury replacements. Denver also has multiple in-house contract extensions to think about.

The biggest extension on deck for general manager George Paton will be for quarterback Russell Wilson, who will undoubtedly want to be among the game’s highest-paid QBs when contract negotiations begin.

Wilson has two seasons left on his current deal but he will likely want an extension before entering the final year of his contract. The Broncos also have 19 players scheduled to become unrestricted free agents in 2023, including outside linebacker Bradley Chubb, defensive lineman Dre’Mont Jones, guard Dalton Risner and running back Melvin Gordon.

Denver’s next big signing will likely be an in-house extension.
