
The NFL won a collusion case featuring the Denver Broncos and Russell Wilson extension from 2022
Coming as no surprise to this NFL fan, the arbiter ruled in the NFL collusion case that the NFL did no wrong. That being said, it seems they kinda / sorta tried, depending on how you read the evidence.
I chalk it up to business being business at the end of the day. Of course, the owners don’t want to pay the players. Of course, the players want to get paid as much as they can.
The most interesting tidbit from this case was pointed out by Andrew Mason in the lead-off article below: Greg Penner wasn’t crazy about the idea of extending Russell Wilson in 2022.
I, for one, am kinda relieved that such a simple facet of that situation didn’t go over Penner’s head at the time: Wilson had 2 years left on his contract. The right move was to have Wilson play another year on his contract to show that he’s the right guy, then talk about an extension.
