Here’s what you need to know.
With the start of free agency and the draft now in the rearview, football season is still months away. What’s a Broncos fan going to do during football’s most useless month, May? Even though there isn’t any football to speak of, there’s still football things happening.
ROOKIE MINICAMP
Broncos drafted rookies, undrafted free agents, and tryout players will report to minicamp on May 9-11. Part new employee orientation and part football camp, this will be the rookies first organized activity with the Denver Broncos. Physicals, equipment fittings, meetings, and strength & conditioning are just some of the things that will take place.
SCHEDULE RELEASE
It’s quickly become one of the most looked-forward-to dates on the May calendar (perhaps the only one?). On May 14, the Broncos schedule will drop. As is tradition, the team will release a video as part of the announcement. Last year’s video was a head scratcher with team minority owner Lewis Hamilton eating carrots.
With teams in the division dropping epic videos like this banger, let’s hope more effort goes into the release this year.
SPRING LEAGUE MEETING
All you rule-change geeks out there get pumped! It’s at this meeting in Minneapolis that the tush push may meet its ultimate demise. Also, expect kickoff and replay assist rules to be tweaked for the coming season. Mark your calendars for May 20-21.
While there’s no actual ball being played, there’s plenty going on for Broncos fans in the month of May. Football season is so close, but still so very far away.
