The Denver Broncos (0-2) look to get their first win of the season as they host Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-1) in Week 3.
It’s official. The Denver Broncos have a 12% chance of making the playoffs, but with the amount of injuries to their best players the actual chances are likely zero at this point. That’s a tough pill to swallow for fans just two weeks into a season.
Every team has to deal with injuries during a season, but the Denver Broncos have had few seasons begin like this one. The list of starter-level talent that will be out in Week 3 is astronomical.
The list includes Von Miller, Courtland Sutton, A.J. Bouye, Drew Lock, Phillip Lindsay, Dre’Mont Jones, and Devontae Harris. There are even more injuries to backups as well, but the starters alone should give anyone trying to place a bet on this team a little pause.
That doesn’t mean they won’t win any games, though. Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have not shown the league they are good enough to be touchdown favorites on the road against any team, much less these Broncos. Head Coach Vic Fangio sounded the alarm that players might just come out with a little extra motivation in Week 3.
“I think it’s been healthy,” Fangio said of how the team is responding to adversity. “I think the guys are frustrated with everything that’s happened here in the first couple weeks, but I think their mindset is good and they’ve had a good attitude during the week.”
While they might cover the spread in this game, Denver will need its best game out of backup quarterback Jeff Driskel and an outstanding performance from their defense to cover the spread and then some to come out with a win on Sunday.

NFL Game Pass (After the game)
The Broncos were underdogs again, this time 6-point home dogs to the Buccaneers. So far, Denver has been underdogs in all three games. While they lost in each of their first two games, they covered the spread each time. If you are into sports betting, MHR has a promo link for new bettors. The offer is 100% risk-free week of betting up to $500. Sporting betting in Colorado is legal now, but be sure to gamble responsibly.
There isn’t much of a rivalry between these two franchises. The Buccaneers haven’t had many good teams over its history and the Broncos currently own a 7-2 all-time record against them that include winning their last four meetings. Of course, that was before Tampa Bay sported the ageless Tom Brady at quarterback.
Broncos Country is losing hope in the team just two weeks. After hovering near 90% confidence leading up to Week 1, it has dropped to 40% after just two games. With all of the injuries piling up, we shouldn’t expect too much of a bounce back if the Broncos win. This team is injured, but it still looks like a decent team. If only they could get healthy.
On MHR Radio this week, Ian St. Clair and Adam Malnati discuss the injury situation the Broncos are faced with and whether or not they’ll be able to overcome them with 15 weeks left in the season.
Cover 2 Broncos with Jeff Essary and Joe Rowles have The Draft Network’s Trevor Sikkema on to preview the upcoming Broncos-Bucs game.
Last, but not least, Laurie Lattimore-Volkmann, Jess Place, and myself discussed the state of the Broncos on the SSB Podcast this week. We decided this is not a bad team, but an injured one.
