Garett Bolles is all in on the Denver Broncos‘ “very impressive” new ownership group.
Out is the Pat Bowlen-led Broncos ownership group, in is the Rob Walton-led ownership group. The latter’s a billionaire heir to the fortune of Walmart, the largest retailer in the world.
While the team’s mandatory minicamp started Monday, last week during voluntary minicamp, Bolles broke down the ownership transition.
“I think that we have a phenomenal group of people that are going to run this organization from Mr. [Rob] Walton to Mr. [Greg] and Mrs. [Carrie] Penner,” Bolles said last week. “They are phenomenal people. You just see what they have done at Walmart and what a great organization they are and of how they have changed so many people’s lives with job opportunities to [being] big in the community. Those are the people I sort of wanted because I feel like they’re going to come in here and do what it takes to get us back to where we need to be and build this organization like it should be.”
Indeed, as the world’s largest retailer, Walmart has afforded many people job opportunities. While many dismiss said jobs as a dead-end, low-pay work, it’s a great start for teenagers, people looking for a second job, etc. In reality, it’s the skills required for the job (or lack thereof) that keeps its pay grade low. But it allows people to earn high-paying skills elsewhere while keeping money in their pocket. It’s indicative of the character that Walton brings to the Broncos. Welcome, Mr. Walton and friends.
“This is a special place to be,” Bolles added. “When Mr. [president/CEO] Joe Ellis spoke to us the other day, he talked to us and showed the pictures of everybody and told everyone about each of these people, their backgrounds, where they come from, who they are and the organizations they’ve run. They’re a very impressive group and I’m looking forward to meeting them.”
Excitement for Broncos Country is running rampant right now. After Walton’s (pending) $4.65 billion purchase of the team, everything’s now in place for the Broncos to actualize their seventh-best Super Bowl odds.
