The Denver Broncos are 3-0 after whipping the New York Jets 26-0. They sit atop the AFC West with the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Denver Broncos finally put together a complete game against a bad New York Jets team. The offense scored consistently, although they continued to struggle in the red zone settling for field goals over touchdowns. The defense did its job too helping the team cruise to a 26-0 victory and a 3-0 start to the season.

First Quarter

Both teams traded punts to start the game, but then the Broncos offense came alive. They averted disaster after Teddy Bridgewater was sacked on a second down to setup a long third and nine. He found KJ Hamler wide open down the field for a 28-yard gain and a first down.

That conversion would ignite the Broncos offense to a scoring opportunity. Rookie running back Javonte Williams would get his first NFL touchdown to cap an 11 play, 75 yard drive that ate up more than seven minutes in the first quarter.

Second Quarter

While it seemed like the Broncos offense was stymied in the second quarter, they still put up 10 points to extend the Broncos lead to 17-0 before halftime. The big difference maker was the Broncos defense that began to find pressure on Zach Wilson in the second quarter.

Unfortunately, the Broncos suffered a critical injury on offense from a high pass from Bridgewater to KJ Hamler that had Hamler land very awkwardly on his left knee. He was in a great deal of pain and was helped off the field and into the locker room. We’ll have to hope it looked worse than it was on this one, but it looked pretty bad.

Third Quarter

The third quarter was one that continued to plague the Broncos with injuries as they lost both of their starting offensive guards. Dalton Risner (foot) and Graham Glasgow (knee) were both knocked out of the game during the third quarter.

Denver’s offense was able to squeeze out one scoring drive during the quarter when Melvin Gordon made a nifty play at the line of scrimmage to break loose for a 21-yard gain that would result in a Broncos field goal.

Fourth Quarter

The Jets had a scoring opportunity early in the fourth quarter when faced with a fourth and one, but an accurate throw by Zach Wilson was dropped by the wide receiver to keep the shutout in place for Denver.

Teddy Bridgewater and the Broncos’ offense kept things going in the fourth quarter. They wouldn’t sit on a 20-point lead at all. Tim Patrick game up with another big catch to launch them into another scoring opportunity midway through the fourth quarter.

The drive would result in another Brandon McManus field goal to put them up 23-0 with under seven minutes to go in the fourth quarter.

With the Jets driving, Justin Simmons came up with an interception to give the Broncos another scoring opportunity with 5:26 left in the game. Tim Patrick would come up with a huge jump ball on third down to give Denver a first and goal at the one yard line. Javonte Williams would fumble to give the ball back to the Jets anyway, however.

Denver would get the ball back at the Jets 28-yard line after they went for it on fourth down and Alexander Johnson broke through on a blitz for Denver’s fifth sack of the game. That would end any hopes of avoiding a shutout for the Jets as Denver moved to 3-0 on the year.

Broncos 26, Jets 0.
