Similar to Kyle Pitts, the fantasy industry is looking for former first-round pick Evan Engram to become relevant again in 2025. Engram signed a 2-year contract with the Denver Broncos in March. The two-time Pro Bowler will look to revitalize his career with the Broncos. Those of us within the fantasy community know the potential that the tight end can have within Sean Payton’s offense. Former Saints tight end Jimmy Graham was a fantasy stud for multiple years while playing under Payton. We are high on Engram’s fantasy outlook and expect him to return to a top-12 tight end in 2025.
Evan Engram Fantasy Outlook: Will Return to Form in 2025
Fantasy Draft Profile: Evan Engram
2024 in Review
Last season, Evan Engram never became what Jacksonville envisioned him to be at tight end. He posted 47 catches for 365 yards and one touchdown, leading to an overall TE32 finish. However, the tight end receiving metrics indicated that Engram was not as bad as the results indicated. Despite ranking 20th in yards per route run, he was top five in targets per route run and top three in target share. The 2024 season was a disappointment for Engram; however, his 9.9 fantasy points per game ranked 12th among tight ends.
In his two prior seasons, Engram was ranked second and twelfth, respectively, in tight end target share. In addition, he finished in the top eight in both seasons in yards per route run versus man coverage. That is why it is so valuable to consider as much data as possible and not let recency bias sway you off a player.
2025 Projection
Evan Engram is projected for 151 fantasy points, 68 receptions for 607 yards, and four touchdowns. However, it is the role and comments from Denver Broncos Head Coach Sean Payton that need to be discussed when forecasting Engram’s fantasy outlook.
It was widely reported at OTAs that Evan Engram has been running the ‘Joker’ position on offense within the Denver offense. Coach Payton made it known that finding a player to play the ‘Joker’ position was imperative this offseason. That player within his offense is a pass-catching weapon who is a threat in the middle of the field.
In New Orleans, Jimmy Graham played that key position for Payton. From 2011-2014, Graham averaged 138 targets, 89 receptions, 16.9 fantasy points, and found paydirt 46 times. Payton, who has a history of using his tight ends, mustered only 52 catches from the position last season.
Evan Engram Fantasy Football ADP
We are not far off being bullish on Evan Engram this season. Best ball consensus rankings currently have him as TE7 with an overall ADP of 107 on Underdog and 100 on Drafters. Glowing reports are coming out of OTAs that Engram might be a huge get for Bo Nix and the Denver offense. Outside of Courtland Sutton, there is no clear-cut number two option in the Broncos’ passing game.
It is a very possible scenario where Engram leads the Broncos in targets, making a top-3 finish at tight end within reach. Engram is a value at tight end when combining his ADP and being tied to a Sean Payton offense.
