The Denver Broncos have nine picks to use in the 2022 NFL draft and general manager George Paton aims to select the best player available at each spot, opposed to reaching for needs.
Denver does have several needs that should be addressed, though. Here is Broncos Wire’s list of priority positions for the team this weekend.
Defensive line: After trading away Shelby Harris, Denver could use another starting-caliber defensive lineman.
Right tackle: Billy Turner is more than capable of stepping in this season, but the Broncos should look for a long-term answer at the position.
Inside linebacker: Baron Browning is expected to work at outside linebacker this spring, so Denver could use another long-term candidate at ILB.
Cornerback: The Broncos have a pair of talented starters in Pat Surtain and Ronald Darby, but they need more depth at the position.
Running back: Javonte Williams could easily handle an increased workload, but Denver wants to keep him fresh. Expect them to draft a RB. Update: The Broncos are bringing back Melvin Gordon on a one-year deal.
Outside linebacker: With Bradley Chubb and Malik Reed both scheduled to become free agents in 2023, the Broncos need to start planning for the future at pass rusher.
Tight end: After trading away Noah Fant, Denver needs more depth at the position.
