Denver Broncos 2021 salary cap update

February 5, 2021 by Broncos Wire Leave a Comment

Limited attendance (and in some cases, no attendance) hurt the NFL’s revenue in 2020, which was expected to impact the league’s 2021 salary cap. At one point, the cap was expected to be as low as $175 million.

Now, as the league draws closer to setting a cap number, there’s some optimism around the league about a higher number.

“Some team officials believe (and surely hope) the cap will ultimately land closer to $185 million per club — if not a little higher — than the $175 million minimum the sides agreed to last summer,” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported Wednesday.

Last month, kicker Brandon McManus (Denver’s NFLPA rep) estimated that the 2021 salary cap will be $188 million. If his estimate is accurate, the Broncos will have approximately $26,984,221 in 2021 salary cap space.

That would be before making any cap-saving moves like cutting cornerback A.J. Bouye ($13,375,000) or defensive lineman Jurrell Casey ($11,874,750). Denver general manager George Paton made his first moves of the offseason earlier this week, waiving five players.

List

After failing to land Matthew Stafford, Broncos might consider these 10 other QBs
