Appreciate what you’re trying to do here, Mase, but I keep coming back to issues with the quality of the data. How can we compare Lock’s progress to previous eras, stats, etc., when everything about last year was unprecedented?
1. New OC with wildly different offense than year prior (3WR shotgun v. heavy play-action)
2. No offseason
3. Sutton injury
4. Overall youth on offense – starting QB, Center, 2 WR, 2 TE all 1st or 2nd year players. Does anyone really believe Jeudy will drop as many passes this year?
We also saw material improvement from Lock over the last quarter of the season (7:4 TD:INT). I’m not suggesting Lock is THE guy, but I also don’t think it’s fair to judge him against historical data, given last year’s unique circumstances. I’m looking forward to seeing this offense in year 2 of Shurmer’s system and with another year of collective maturity. Fingers crossed we have an actual offseason with on-field work!
