Hey guys!
I wanted to add to something you guys brought up on tuesday:
TL;DR is the 2013 week 17 matchup between the Vikings and Packers a harbinger of what’s to come in this postseason?
Going into week 17, we all knew Peyton Manning and Adrian Peterson were going to be league MVP and comeback player of the year. It was just a matter of who was who. The Vikings were win and in against the Packers who had already clinched the division. The game came down to the wire. After taking their last timeout, with the game tied, AP needed to get to the 6 yard line to break Erik Dickerson’s single season rushing record. He could’ve, but with 2 defenders in front of him, a touchdown wasn’t guaranteed. Instead, he stepped out at the 12, which set up the game winning field goal. I postulate that because he chose to do what was best for the team over a personal accomplishment, he was named MVP over Manning. Does this inform the Derrick Henry candidacy for MVP?
Also, because of the Vikings win, they had to play the Packers in the wild card round the next week. Just like how the Browns had to clinch against the Steelers to play the Steelers next week.
