Chris Harris downplays possibility of Deshaun Watson joining Broncos

February 15, 2021 by Broncos Wire Leave a Comment

Darius Butler knows secondary coaches in the AFC West won’t be happy if Deshaun Watson lands with the Denver Broncos. Defensive backs won’t be pleased, either.

When rumors about Watson potentially joining the Broncos started to heat up over the weekend, Los Angeles Chargers cornerback Chris Harris seemingly tried to shoot them down. Harris suggested that Watson wouldn’t want to play in the same division as Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert.

Just facts boy ain’t tryna compete with Herbert and Mahomes lol better stay AFC south

Many fans replied saying Watson is a competitor who would welcome the challenge. Harris suggested otherwise.

Harris might be downplaying the rumors in part because he doesn’t want to see Watson land in Denver. Harris left the Broncos last spring and signed with a division rival, so he now faces his ex-team twice a season.

Champ Bailey, who helped mentor Harris, believes Denver should try to acquire the disgruntled Houston Texans’ quarterback through a trade.

“It’d be a great move,” Bailey said during a recent interview with 104.3 The Fan. “He’s a proven quarterback, a franchise quarterback. He’ll change a franchise and its trajectory. So, why wouldn’t you entertain that?”

Broncos QB Drew Lock threw two interceptions and was sacked by Harris when Denver faced the Chargers in Los Angeles last year. Watson, who led the NFL in passing yards in 2020, wants to be traded. The Broncos seem to be a logical potential landing spot if Houston agrees to trade him.

After failing to land Matthew Stafford, Broncos might consider these 10 other QBs
