Chiefs May Lose Second Round Impending Free Agent in 2025 – Saints, Ravens Could Be Frontrunners

Despite possibly playing for a third Super Bowl in a row, the Kansas City Chiefs may lose Nick Bolton as he will become a free agent in 2025. According to sources, the team could lose one of their best defenders since coming into the league as a second-round pick, recording a career-high 108 total tackles in 2022. Bolton became one of the better tacklers in the league today after leading the organization in the defensive unit getting after the quarterback and making crucial plays. The Chiefs can’t afford to lose Bolton but the team may not have any other choice as he will hit the market with plenty of suitors offering him a high-paid contract.

After helping the team win two Super Bowls, Bolton playing for a contender might not matter for him as the 24-year-old can sit back and sign with a roster that offers the most money. With that, the Chiefs will not have much salary cap space this upcoming offseason which means some difficult decisions may have to happen no matter what happens this upcoming postseason. One source believes Nick Bolton could sign with the Denver Broncos this offseason but the reality is that there will multiple teams in a betting war. This is why the Ravens, Saints could fight over Bolton to help improve their defense.

New Era in New Orleans

It’s fair to see why Bolton could be a solid for the Saints this upcoming offseason. Veteran linebacker Demario Davis will be entering the final year of his contract and since he’s aging, the Saints might be reluctant to offer him a long-term deal. The team leaning towards the 2025 NFL Draft, they don’t have a solid draft pick to show for so this could force General Manager Mickey Loomis to figure out a way to make some free agency moves to fit into their salary cap. However, they could release Davis with a post-June 1 cut but the Saints would need to act fast to fill his spot as soon as he hits the market himself.

Despite that, Bolton is easily the difference to start a rebuild in New Orleans. Loomis doesn’t want to start over but that may be what he needs to do to start winning some games next season. Bolton is more than just a pass rusher as he has four career interceptions and eight passes broken up. Perhaps, he could be the final plug-in next to Pete Werner and Willie Gay Jr. since the Saints don’t have a lot of depth at the linebacker position.

Ravishing the Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens are only getting younger which means they will have some tough decisions this offseason as well. Even though Roquan Smith will be with the team for four more years, there’s no guarantee they will keep David Ojabo around behind Odafe Oweh. However, a Nick Bolton signing could solve all the troubles for the defense to keep the team on balance. The pass defense has been one of the worst this season for the team so maybe Bolton stepping in could provide enough insurance policy to be a disruptive force in the aerial attack.
