Broncos WR Travis Fulgham might be a sleeper to watch this summer

July 7, 2022 by Broncos Wire

The Denver Broncos are loaded with depth at wide receiver.

At the top of the depth chart, Courtland Sutton, Tim Patrick and Jerry Jeudy are all looking to make a big impact this year playing with new quarterback Russell Wilson. Also returning this summer are KJ Hamler and Kendall Hinton, and Denver just used a fifth-round draft pick to select Montrell Washington.

Needless to say, it’s a crowded WR room.

“We’ve got a great room,” Broncos coach Nathaniel Hackett said on May 31. “That whole room of wide receivers, they’re great guys, they all push each other, and they all work hard.”

One potential sleeper at the position to watch this summer is Travis Fulgham, a 26-year-old veteran who joined the team late last season and will now get a chance to compete in training camp for a spot on the 53-man roster.

Fulgham had a breakout stretch with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2020, catching 38 passes for a team-high 539 receiving yards and four touchdowns, but he was cut by Philly before the 2021 season and he’s had no receptions since 2020.

If he wants to make an impact in Denver, Fulgham will have to return to his 2020 form.

“Travis has done some good things in the league and just needs to be consistent and needs to keep on going and get better every day,” Hackett said. “I think that whole room pushes themselves, so I think that it’ll be great to have him in there.”

With a limited number of active roster spots, Fulgham will face an up-hill battle this summer, but he’ll get a shot to prove himself. He’s an intriguing player who’s shown flashes of solid production in the past. We’ll see if he can build on that at training camp.
