Here are Mile High Report’s score predictions for the Denver Broncos vs. Los Angeles Chargers game in Week 17. Who do you think will win this game?
With the Denver Broncos season effectively over after last week’s terrible home loss to the New England Patriots, the focus has shifted towards the future as they look to secure their eighth win of the season at home against the Los Angeles Chargers. According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the Broncos were fairly strong home favorites, but after the Russell Wilson benching the line has shifted strongly towards the Chargers and now stands at just a 3.5-point advantage for Denver.
Collectively, we see the Broncos bouncing back under Jarrett Stidham with a 26-20 win over the Chargers this week. You can see which of us were strong believers in Wilson and which were not in some of these score predictions, so here is how we see the score outcome differently:
Broncos 31, Chargers 26
I’ve seen a regression from the Broncos’ defense in recent weeks and that gives me pause in thinking they will dominate even Easton Stick right now. I do think we’ll see a dead cat style bounce from the offense with their quarterback change to Jarrett Stidham, but long term I don’t think he’ll be the answer and likely isn’t truly a better quarterback than Russell Wilson. However, for this first week against a weak opponent, I think we’ll see some good offense out of Denver in this game. Go get that eighth win! – Tim Lynch
Broncos 23, Chargers 16
There’s no way that the Broncos lose to the Chargers, right? Even with a new QB at the helm for Denver they’re still a better team than the low key Chargers. At least I really hope so. I’m sure this game will end with one team choking everything away at the end. I guess we’ll find out who it will be on Sunday. – Ross Allen
Chargers 31, Broncos 10
Denver’s depth is thin across the board, and we’ve seen the last two weeks what being out an edge rusher does. Nik Bonitto returns but Baron Browning is likely out. Benching Wilson will have an immediate negative impact on morale. If Justin Simmons illness keeps him out, things could get far worse than this score. – John Holmes
Broncos 24, Chargers 17
I still believe that Denver has more talent and Sean will have the team ready to play! He will try to make a point on benching the QB, so he more than anyone will have the team ready to win. – Iván Talavera
Broncos 38, Chargers 0
Obviously… – Adam Malnati
Broncos 24, Chargers 21
Another meaningless game at the end of December but the Broncos get the win. Let the Jarrett Stidham era commence (for at least another week). – Ian St. Clair
Broncos 27, Chargers 24
Sean Payton made a change at quarterback. Jarrett Stidham has a chance to show Broncos Country why the Broncos signed him to a two-year deal worth $10 million this past offseason. I don’t have any big expectations for the game, but looked forward to seeing Stidham attack areas of the field consistently that we didn’t see with Russell Wilson. I think Denver is able to play with some fire and take down a Chargers team that clearly has a lot of issues of their own. – Chris Hart
Broncos 28, Chargers 24
Two teams who are expected to make big changes in the offseason and have really nothing left to play for will face off, and it could go either way. I’m going to lean towards the Broncos because of home field advantage, a tad bit of homerism, and my prediction that Payton will be giving Stidham a green light to do pretty much whatever he wants so he can get a glimpse to see if he can be starter material. – Nick Burch
