After releasing veteran defensive back A.J. Bouye, the Denver Broncos’ top remaining cornerbacks are Bryce Callahan, Michael Ojemudia and Essang Bassey. In theory, those three cornerbacks could serve as the starters in 2021 with Callahan and Ojemudia on the outside and Bassey in the slot.
Denver will want to add more depth, though, and Callahan is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent next spring. The Broncos will likely make cornerback a top priority in this year’s NFL draft.
If the Broncos opt to add a cornerback through free agency, they will have more funds available after saving more than $11 million in salary cap space by cutting Bouye. This year’s class of free-agent cornerbacks includes Richard Sherman, Desmond King and Xavier Rhodes.
There have also been rumors that the Arizona Cardinals might also make Patrick Peterson available, but the CB has rebuffed those rumblings.
