Broncos tight end Noah Fant has one main goal for the 2021 season

July 14, 2021 by Broncos Wire Leave a Comment

Denver Broncos tight end Noah Fant has shown flashes of brilliance through his first two seasons in the NFL, but his performances have been somewhat inconsistent.

Last year, for example, Fant had seven catches in Week 7, followed by just three catches in each of his next two games. Some of that can be attributed to play-calling and quarterback execution, but Fant isn’t without blame.

The third-year tight end has one main goal for 2021: consistency.

“I think that’s the biggest thing [I need to work on],” Fant said on May 27. “I saw [inconsistency] last year …. If I can play that consistent and get those catches, make those blocks [and do] all that consistently throughout the season and do that all year long and be at my highest level of play, the sky is the limit. Consistency is a big word I’ve been focusing on this year.

“I’m starting to figure things out, starting to be more knowledgeable about the game and starting to get those vet aspects to what I’m doing. Now, it’s just consistency. Consistently being at the top level of play amongst the league. I’m not just competing with myself. I’m competing with every tight end across the league. There’s some good ones, so I have to step up to that level.”

Consistency at the quarterback position would undoubtedly help Fant’s cause, but the tight end can only focus on what he can control. After totaling 62 receptions for 673 yards and three touchdowns in 2020, Fant will aim to be a reliable target for Denver’s QB in 2021 and improve his numbers this fall.
