Broncos sign WR David Moore off Raiders' practice squad

September 28, 2021 by Broncos Wire Leave a Comment

After losing wide receiver KJ Hamler to a season-ending knee injury, the Denver Broncos are bringing in a replacement from a division rival.

The Broncos are signing wide receiver David Moore off the Las Vegas Raiders’ practice squad, Brandon Krisztal of KOA Radio first reported on Monday evening.

Moore (6-0, 219 pounds) ran a 4.43-second 40-yard dash at his East Central University pro day in 2017, and his speed could be utilized to help replace Hamler on offense.

Moore entered the league as a seventh-round pick with the Seattle Seahawks four years ago. He was a rotational receiver with the Seahawks from 2018-2020, catching 78 passes for 1,163 yards and 13 touchdowns in three seasons.

Moore had a career year last season, totaling 35 receptions for 417 yards with six touchdowns. Seattle choose not to re-sign him when he became a free agent in March and Moore then signed with the Carolina Panthers.

After failing to make the Panthers’ 53-man roster this summer, Moore signed with the Raiders’ practice squad in early September. He’ll now get a chance to win Denver’s No. 3 wide receiver job until Jerry Jeudy returns.

While Jeudy recovers from an ankle injury, the Broncos’ top receivers will likely be Courtland Sutton, Tim Patrick, Moore, Diontae Spencer and Kendall Hinton.
