While filming a promotion for ESPN Plus, Peyton Manning was surprised by his former coaches and Pro Football Hall of Fame president David Baker at Empower Field at Mile High last month.
Manning, Baker told him, had been voted into the Hall of Fame. The Denver Broncos’ media team shared a behind-the-scenes look at the planning and surprise on the team’s YouTube page:
Former Broncos safety John Lynch was also voted into the Hall of Fame as part of the 2021 class. Lynch’s surprise announcement wasn’t as elaborate, but it was just as heartwarming.

Manning, Lynch and former safety Steve Atwater will all be enshrined in the Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio in August. Atwater was voted into the Hall of Fame in 2020 but his enshrinement ceremony was postponed one year because of COVID-19 concerns.
Next year, former edge defender DeMarcus Ware, who won Super Bowl 50 with the Broncos, will be eligible for the Hall of Fame.
