In his recent first-round 2025 NFL mock draft for CBS Sports, Josh Edwards has the Denver Broncos adding another weapon for quarterback Bo Nix.
The Broncos select Missouri wide receiver Luther Burden at pick No. 20. Edwards admitted that the pick seemingly contradicted recent comments from coach Sean Payton.
“The projection of Luther Burden III is ill-timed considering Sean Payton came out this week and said that he feels better about the wide receiver room than outsiders,” Edwards wrote on CBS Sports.
Burden (5-11, 208 pounds) earned first-team All-SEC honors in each of the last two seasons. The 21-year-old receiver hauled in 61 receptions for 676 yards and six touchdowns last fall. Before that, he totaled 86 catches for 1,212 yards and nine touchdowns in 2023.
Of note, Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty (No. 12), Penn State tight end Tyler Warren (No. 14) and Michigan tight end Colston Loveland (No. 18) went off the board before Denver’s pick in Edwards’ mock.
The 2025 NFL draft will be held in Green Bay from April 24-26 and the Broncos holds seven picks, including No. 20 in the first round.
