The Denver Broncos selected Ohio State edge defender Jonathon Cooper in the seventh round of the 2021 NFL draft on Saturday afternoon. He was a defensive lineman in college, but in Denver’s 3-4 defense, Cooper will likely play as an outside linebacker in the NFL.
Cooper (6-3, 253 pounds) totaled 77 tackles — including 15 tackles for losses — 10 sacks, two pass breakups, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble during his time with the Buckeyes (37 games).
Cooper is the second Ohio State linebacker the Broncos have picked this year, joining teammate Baron Browning, who was selected by Denver at the end of the third round on Friday evening.
The Broncos have one more pick — No. 153 — remaining in the NFL draft.
