Broncos select CB Caleb Farley in NFL.com's new mock draft

March 25, 2021 by Broncos Wire Leave a Comment

In his latest 2021 NFL mock draft, NFL.com’s Bucky Brooks has the Denver Broncos selecting Virginia Tech cornerback Caleb Farley with the ninth overall pick in the first round.

“The additions of Ronald Darby and Kyle Fuller won’t stop the Broncos from adding a five-star cornerback to beef up a secondary that must defend a few high-powered WR corps within the division,” Brooks wrote on NFL.com.

Brooks has quarterbacks Trevor Lawrence (No. 1), Zach Wilson (No. 4), Justin Fields (No. 6) and Trey Lance (No. 8) going off the board before Denver’s pick. He has the Broncos passing on Alabama cornerback Patrick Surtain II, who falls to No. 12.

Brooks also has Denver passing on Florida tight end Kyle Pitts, who somehow falls all the way to No. 13. The Broncos don’t need another tight end, but Pitts would likely be the best player available if he fell to No. 9 and it would be hard to pass on such a talented pass-catcher.

Back to Farley — Draft Wire’s Luke Easterling had him ranked as the No. 1 cornerback in this year’s class, but that was before Farley underwent back surgery. It remains to be seen if Surtain might jump Farley when Easterling updates his rankings — NFL teams will likely update their rankings, too.
