Mike Boone appears poised to (compete to) replace Phillip Lindsay as the Denver Broncos’ new No. 2 running back, and many fans aren’t happy about that.
Boone didn’t make the decision to part ways with Lindsay, though, and he has no beef with the ex-Denver running back. Fans shouldn’t have a beef with Boone, either.
“That’s my boy, shout out to Phil,” Boone said during a Thursday press conference when asked about Lindsay. “We trained together our rookie [year] coming into the NFL together. I’m here to be me. Shout out to Phil. Major respect and great athlete, but I’m just here to be me and do what I can.”
Boone wouldn’t even say he is replacing Lindsay, leaving the depth chart decisions to the Broncos’ coaching staff.
“Whoever [the coaches] put out there, whoever they call to replace him [will be the guy],” Boone said. “I’m here for whatever they ask me to do.”
