Oddsmakers like Sean Payton’s chances of winning the Coach of the Year award in 2023, and they also like Russell Wilson’s chances of winning the Comeback Player of the Year award.
The Denver Broncos quarterback is tied with Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa with the second-best odds (+2000) to win Comeback Player of the Year this season, according to DraftKings Sportsbook. The only player with better odds is Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin (-500).
Hamlin is the obvious favorite to win the award. He’s back practicing with the Bills this spring after suffering a scary cardiac arrest injury in 2022.
Wilson, though, could make a strong case as well if he has a bounce-back season under Payton and helps the Broncos snap a seven-year playoff drought.
Elsewhere on the odds front, Denver rookie linebacker Drew Sanders has the 17th-best odds (+3000) to win Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2023. Sanders is not projected to start for the Broncos in Week 1, which hurts his odds of winning the award.
After six-straight losing seasons, an award-winning season would be welcomed in Denver.
