Broncos QB Bo Nix reflects on his meeting with Drew Brees and Tom House

July 26, 2025 by Mile High Report

DENVER BRONCOS

Broncos quarterback Bo Nix reflected on his offseason meeting with QB Drew Brees and his workout with throwing coach Tom House.

The big news coming out of the first few days of Broncos Camp was that quarterback Bo Nix spent 4 or 5 days with future first-ballot Hall of Famer Drew Brees this offseason. The former Saints great quarterback knows Sean Payton and his system better than anyone, while also sharing his secrets to success off the field with Nix.

Head Coach Sean Payton told reporters that Nix went out of his way to set this up and said, “That’s what you are looking for” from your starting quarterback.

Nix met with the media after today’s training camp practice and was asked about this meeting with Brees. Nix reflected on it and told reporters that “it was fun” and that it was an honor to spend time with the experience and knowledge of the game that Brees has. He mentioned they talked about his routine and what he was able to do on and off the field and mentioned that Peyton and Eli Manning are the same way.

“It was fun. Anytime you can spend some time with a guy like that, with that experience and just that mind and the knowledge of the game. Just his routine and what he was able to do. More than anything, it was just sitting down and talking to him. A lot of guys are like that. Peyton Manning and Eli Manning are the same way. Anytime you can pick those guy’s brains, and just kind of stand in their shoes and see what they went through and if you can pick up on any one thing that’s a win in the conversation.”

Nix is already known for his work ethic and drive to be better, but Drew Brees had a Hall of Fame career with that mindset. So, being able to pick his brain, learn about his routine, and pick up on a few things can only be beneficial for him. On top of that, also having the Manning brothers as resources is something not many quarterbacks can say they have.

Again, it is hard to say how much of this will help Nix, but at the end of the day, it certainly cannot hurt to pick the brains of these three Hall of Fame and Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks.

Nix was also asked about his workout with throwing coach Tom House. Remember, House was throwing coach for Brees throughout his career, along with Tom Brady and many other MLB pitchers and NFL quarterbacks. It is likely Brees (and Payton) recommended House to Nix, and the two worked on tightening up the Broncos’ quarterbacks’ mechanics and cleaning a few things up.

“We go back every offseason [and] we look at what we can get better at. We just wanted to tighten a few things up and get even more efficient in whatever we can do. At this point, it’s tough to make big strides, so we want to find all the little things that we can that may make a difference.”

Like Payton said, that is what you’re looking for from your quarterback. He wants to be great and is seeking out some of the best to ever do it to pick their brain and see where he can improve on and off the field. He is also working out with a famed throwing specialist, looking to make any little improvements he can to his mechanics.

You just love to see it and hope all this leads to Nix having a big 2025 season for the Broncos.
