After a successful rookie season, quarterback Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos were knocked out the NFL playoffs in the wild card round.
Nix will now entering his first NFL offseason as a full-time starter after competing for QB1 duties last summer. He aims to make the most of his time off this spring.
“I’m going to attack it,” Nix said in January when asked how he’s going to approach the offseason. “We have a lot of building, and learning and growing to do, so that’s what I’m very excited about. I think offseason, off time is not my favorite because of the vacation, but off time is my favorite because it’s time to get better and it’s time to work on my craft, to work on the things that I need to work on so I can be better for our team and that we don’t get stuck in this position next year.
“There are certain things that I can contribute to this team more, and that’s what I have to find and focus on this offseason. I’ll play it by ear. We’ll get a good plan together. I’ll make sure that I’m working when I have to work, and also taking the time that I haven’t had. So it’s going to be a good offseason, and I’m excited for it, looking forward to it.”
Nix will turn 25 later this month. After totaling more than 4,200 yards and scoring 34 touchdowns as a rookie, there’s still room for growth from the young QB. He certainly has the right makeup to take the necessary steps to continue growing. Fans in Denver can expect Nix to take another step forward in Year 2.
