Broncos players thrilled to have fans returning to stadium this fall

July 13, 2021 by Broncos Wire Leave a Comment

All 32 NFL teams have been cleared to host full-capacity crowds for the 2021 season. Last year, most teams had limited or no attendance because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Both at home and on the road this season, Denver Broncos players will have fans cheering them on this fall.

“We needed that,” defensive lineman Dre’Mont Jones said on June 2. “That fan aspect is huge. Last year was really weird, so we got just a piece of that. We had a small capacity in the first couple games. When we lost that, I think that brought my morale down a little bit because you don’t hear the fans screaming.

“What they do for us is very important. [Players] can all agree with me and say we appreciate what Broncos Country does for us.”

The energy and noise that fans bring to Empower Field at Mile High was greatly missed by players last season.

“They add everything — energy,” wide receiver Tim Patrick said on June 2. “They are what keep us going. Early in the season last year, we really didn’t have any fans. You’re hyped up for the game, but it gets to a point where the game kind of dies down.

“There were times when I was yawning on the sideline. It got to a point where I started to have to take pre-workout [supplements] before games. Having the fans in there, I don’t think I’ll need pre-workout [energy] anymore.”

After being cleared to host full-capacity crowds, Denver will welcome 76,125 fans back at home games this fall.
