The Denver Broncos have placed safety Jamar Johnson and cornerback Kary Vincent on their Reserve/COVID-19 list, the team announced Monday.
Players go on the reserve list when they have either tested positive for COVID-19 or have been exposed to someone else who tested positive. It’s unclear if Johnson or Vincent have been vaccinated for the coronavirus.
Earlier this month, the Associated Press reported that the Broncos, Pittsburgh Steelers, Miami Dolphins and Carolina Panthers had the highest vaccination rates in the NFL. All four teams have at least 85 percent of their players vaccinated. Denver’s coaching staff is also vaccinated.
Last year, the Broncos had 23 known players, coaches and staff members spend time away from the team because of COVID-19.
Denver selected Johnson in the fifth round and Vincent in the seventh round of the NFL draft in April. The rookie defensive backs are now likely to miss the beginning of training camp, which begins on Wednesday.
